When we started working on this edition, our team joked about whether we should skip number 13. Not being the superstitious type, I laughed it off and carried on, but I’ll admit to feeling slightly unlucky at times as we dealt with unexpected problems! But, we are approaching the finishing line, and the issue will go to print in a few weeks, and will arrive with me (and our stockists) at the beginning of April.
As always, the edition is now available for pre-order ahead of publication, so you can make sure you get your copy hot off the press. I wanted to give you a little peek inside and a bit of insight into our theme and what you’ll find inside. Despite the challenges I’m thrilled with how this issue has turned out and I hope you will enjoy diving into it when it arrives. Here is the cover…
Our loose theme for this issue is SIMPLIFY. I realised a few weeks into working on the content that this theme did not come about by accident. It’s an idea that has been weaving its way through my own life in the last few years and I believe many others, too. Enduring a global pandemic and living with and grappling with the effects of climate change are experiences that have had a profound impact on us, highlighting what is truly important.
For me, the word ‘simplicity’ kept filtering into my thought processes – not only have I felt compelled to simplify my home and my belongings, but I became more aware of the simple things in life. Appreciation for simple pleasures, which in turn, brings a sense of contentment to the every day.
This issue celebrates ideas around simplicity and simple living. It is not about stark, minimal spaces, but homes and creative spaces where the owner has been considered and thoughtful about design and styling and what is important to them. We hear from creative business owners whose ethos is anchored in a simple way of life, creating and selling objects that have provenance, providing joy through functionality, beauty and meaning.
From an urban home with a dream pantry and a historical cottage used for photoshoots and holiday stays, to a clothing and lifestyle store inspired by a slower pace of life to yoga cafes which combine style, great food and self care under one roof.
The issue is now available for PRE-ORDER individually, or you can purchase it as part of a subscription, which includes this issue and the next one (due in October ‘22). If you’d like a sneaky peek at some of the beautiful spaces you’ll find inside this issue then scroll on…
I hope this might have whetted your appetite for the next issue! Get your pre-order in now, or why not grab yourself a subscription. View the 91 Magazine online store.
