Become a 91 Magazine contributor
We are always looking for creative talent to contribute to our pages. We work with photographers, writers and illustrators across the UK and globally.Â
Be a part of our creative network
Whether you are a writer, photographer, or illustrator, we are always happy to hear from you and talk about ideas.
As a small independent magazine, our fees may not match up to other commercial titles, but we always pay promptly and have utmost respect for our contributors and their work.
We work in an open, honest and collaborative way, so do drop us a line to discuss.Â
If you have specific ideas you’d like to pitch, or believe your work would be a good fit, then do get in touch.Â
NOTE: We regret we are unable to respond to all submissions due to the volume of emails we receive. We do try our best though!Â
Content
Make sure you have read the magazine and you understand what kind of features we run. That way you will know exactly the kind of content we are looking for.
Aesthetic
Consider whether your aesthetic or style is a good fit with ours. Peruse the magazine, our blog and e-zine – is what you create in line with what we create?
Examples
You don’t need to be hugely experienced to work with us, but we do like to see some examples of your photography, writing or illustration work.Â
Small business tips from small business experts
We love sharing insight from other experts in the creative business world with our readers. If you have expertise in areas such as PR, wholesale, content creation, websites, marketing etc, then let’s chat about working together!
Read our editor's guide to pitching feature ideas
If you’re a writer or photographer and are not quite sure how to pitch your content idea, our editor, Caroline Rowland, has written a helpful guide on how to pitch your feature ideas.
Co-host a Creative Session
Our Creative Sessions are online workshops aimed at small business owners and creatives, hosted by industry experts with the revenue being split between 91 and the facilitator.
Generally these tend to be by invite only, but we are always open to discussing workshop ideas with talented people from the worlds of styling, creativity and independent business who would be perfect for our community.
If you have in-depth knowledge of a topic relevant to running a small creative business, or other creative pursuits, then we’d love to hear from you.
Ideally you will have:Â
- Some experience in hosting workshops
- Ideas for topics not previously covered
- The ability to create a well-designed Powerpoint presentation
What our contributors say
Hear from the writers, photographers, stylists and designers who bring 91 Magazine to life.
I have worked as a photographer for 91 Magazine for many years & have truly loved this very special creative family. The shoot opportunities I have been given have formed some of my most favourite portfolio work.
I have felt Caroline’s wonderful support since day one, whose consistent care for freelance creatives is like no other and certainly runs deeper than just a shoot. I have not only felt encouraged but also empowered by her and the wider 91 team to become the creative I am today. I hope to work for 91 for many more moons to come.
I’ve worked for 91 Magazine since it’s very early days and it’s been a privilege to capture stunning homes and businesses for this beautiful magazine.
All of the features are carefully considered and researched by the 91 team, and I love that these homes and small businesses are chosen for their shared values, covering sustainability, diversity, the environment or community. 91 fiercely promotes and supports small independent businesses, something I too feel very strongly about.
It is therefore a pleasure to help showcase and represent these hardworking people on the pages of this fabulous magazine.
The team at 91 Magazine have an unfaltering vision for interior style, making writing for them a total joy. Caroline’s eye for detail is second to none and her skills for honing in on awe-inspiring spaces, places and people is what makes 91 what it is.
I love working with Caroline and the 91 Magazine team. Caroline has created something special with 91 – a magazine which champions independent creatives and celebrates imaginative design and gorgeous interiors. As a contributor I get to meet the most interesting, creative people and to explore the beautiful spaces they’ve created – it’s a total joy!
