Volume 9 publishes!

Save & share

When we started putting this issue together back in the autumn of 2019, little did we know what 2020 would have in store for the world. The arrival of this issue feels like even more of a triumph that usual as we agonised over whether our printers would even still be operating to get the magazines printed for us. Thankfully, they are and we are very grateful to Pure Print Group for not only keeping to our schedule but delivering on time and to a very high standard. This is our ninth print issue and it’s the first time we’ve had no problems with our printers. It’s the first time we’ve used Pure Print Group and we are happy to say the magazine is now being printed using vegetable inks. They are very focused on reducing their environmental impact, which is very much in line with our ethos too.

91 Magazine Volume 9

The global pandemic has had an effect on this issue unfortunately. Many of the shops stocking it have had to close, and I didn’t supply WH Smith with any copies this time. Although, wonderfully, many of our independent stockists have kept their order so they can sell it through their websites, overall our print run had to be reduced, rather than increased as I had planned. On a positive note, readers, I’ve been truly touched by your support – We’ve had a record number of pre-orders and subscriptions, and some of you have even ordered extra copies to share with others. I’ve had lots of kind messages which have really buoyed me up during this difficult time, too.

It has been, and will continue to be a tough time for all of us, and a magazine certainly can’t change or fix any of the tragedy or challenges the world is facing, but I do hope that it may bring a little bit of respite. A few moments away from the sad news we are hearing every day and I hope you can use it to practise a little bit of self care, or perhaps treat someone else who you know would enjoy it right now.

Here is a little sneak peek inside the pages of Volume 9. The loose theme this time is colour – from bold and bright to soft and subtle and it’s packed full of beautiful spaces and inspirational creative folk. If you’ haven’t yet placed an order, pop to our online shop to grab a print or digital copy, or why not treat yourself to a subscription?!
