91 Loves… wall cladding

Save & share

While we’ve always been partial to a beautiful wallpaper here at 91, our latest love for our walls has shifted slightly to cladding. (not the most appealing of words is it? But it makes up for that in aesthetics!) With so many options and different looks, there really is something for everyone. Whether you’re in the Scandi and minimal camp or prefer the rustic, cabin look, cladding gives your space extra dimension and texture, AND will help disguise any issues you might have with uneven or badly plastered walls.

Wood panels can be used in lots of different ways, horizontally or vertically, in sheets for material like plywood,  or even diagonally to make interesting patterns. And just treating the wood differently gives a variety of looks; from smooth white, perfectly finished panels, to rough, reclaimed scaffold planks.

And of course, wood is not the only material worthy of cladding – metals can work well too – corrugated iron is perfect for an upcycled style space, or shiny copper can look super chic. Or why not mix it up? Wood, tiles and other textured surfaces such as concrete combined together can create a real feature of your walls, like the below image.

Oh, and as this sneaky peek image above from our new A/W issue proves, it’s not just walls which can be given the cladding treatment! Kitchen islands, workbenches or any other vertical surfaces could be adorned with salvaged materials. (Look out for another SNEAK PEEK of the new issue coming up next week! And you can of course pre-order your copy NOW!)
